In John 16 Jesus is preparing his disciples for his death, resurrection, and departure to heaven. After three years with Jesus the disciples couldn’t imagine being without his physical presence. To make matters worse in verse 33 Jesus tells them that in this world they would have tribulation. We are not entitled to an easy life. How does Jesus help his disciples? Three things. 1. Peace. There is a peace that Jesus gives that is not dependent on circumstances. 2. Courage. Jesus says, “take heart.” 3. Victory. Jesus reminds them He has already overcome the world.
